In a Letter to the Editor by Sohan Singh Hayreh, titled “Retinal Arterial Occlusion with LIF Using rTPA,” published in the July 1999 issue of the Journal, several corrections requested by the author were inadvertently left out of the final letter. Under the heading, “Natural History of the Disease,” the second sentence should read, “My prospective natural history study, done using a strict protocol, of 210 eyes with CRAO and 110 eyes with branch retinal artery occlusion (BRAO), revealed a marked spontaneous visual acuity improvement in a number of patients.” Under the heading, “Systemic and Ocular Complications of Fibrinolytic Therapy,” the second sentence should read, “Two recent multicenter trials of thrombolytic therapy in acute ischemic stroke showed development of serious complications from thrombolytic therapy and increased morbidity and mortality and concluded that the routine use of this therapy cannot be recommended in acute ischemic stroke.” The page range in reference #6 should read 1336–47. Finally, the title of Table 1 should have read, “Functionally Useful Final Visual Acuity in Natural History Study of Retinal Artery Occlusion Compared with That in the Study of Richard et al.”
The publisher apologizes for these omissions and any inconvenience they caused.
