AAO Members: Welcome to the website for Ophthalmology Online!

The website offers full-text articles back to 1998, and article abstracts back to 1978. Access to abstracts is complimentary, but full-text access is limited to members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and non-member subscribers of Ophthalmology.

As an Academy member, you can sign in using your Academy membership number to see full-text articles from Ophthalmology and also enjoy seamless access between the Academy's website and the online journal. As of mid-December 2006, in addition to Ophthalmology, AAO members will have full-text access to American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Clinics, and Survey of Ophthalmology.

However, in the cases listed below, you will need to create a separate username and password at Ophthalmology Online by completing the free, one-time registration process. This username and password will be different than your Academy membership number.

You will need this information to do the following at Ophthalmology Online:

      1) Use the available personalized features, include setting up email alerts, saving search queries for later use, and viewing recent searches.

      2) Bookmark the homepage for later use. If you bookmark the page and then revisit the journal at a later date, you will need to log in using the separate username and password and toactivate your online subscription via, a simple one-time process.

Once you complete the steps above, you should enjoy immediate access to full-text articles of Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Clinics, and Survey of Ophthalmology.
